The Playbook

Eric Thomas was sharing a quote with me just the other day that really struck home. “Abraham Lincoln once said that if he had 4 hours to cut a tree he would spend 3 hrs sharpening his tools.”

Sometimes lessons have to be learned the hard way. I did not understand “how” to navigate through the obstacles that I have had, I only knew that it must be possible to have a different life. And even if I did not know how to get there I would break my back trying rather then accept the situation that I was in. I thought that if I tried as hard as possible, helped to life up others along my way, and gave the rest to the Lord that would be enough.

But I have learned that I did not know how to work smart, just how to work – hard. And every day I am learning to re-evaluate what “hard work” means. It’s not just carrying around your notes on index cards – it goes deeper then that. It’s not just cutting your hours of sleep to study. It is harder then that. Redefine your impossible. In my heart I felt that my dream was possible.

But I never met someone who was able to give me “a playbook” who understood my background and who could help me navigate through my obstacles. This is not a “whoa is me.” It’s just the facts, working smart pays off far more then working hard. And as I try to navigate my way I’m slowly learning what works and what doesn’t. Unfortunately the mistakes are having some very long term effects on my life which have negatively impacted my dream. But I know that I am not alone. There are so many people who have lost their dream because life has shredded their vision. The resiliency of humans are amazing. But without a playbook to follow and/or support of any kind your dream can vanish. I think that is why certain events in life happen. I have learned so many tools for my playbook and I can’t wait to share them with others. My ultimate dream is for God to use me to change the world. And through my failures I have learned so many lessons that I cannot wait to share with others and help them towards making their dream a reality! 😀
